About the event
Koko Dance Club is Koko Jazz Club's new series where top dancers meet jazz musicians at the interface of improvisation. The evening unfolds in two parts: first the stage belongs to the artists, and afterwards the audience gets to dance to a live jazz band!
The series is curated by Koko Jazz Club's artistic director Timo Hirvonen together with international dance superstar Nina Hyvärinen, who has invited some of the finest dancers to improvise with her – during the evening, two acclaimed dance artists, to be announced later, will take the stage. They will of course be joined by the sharpest edge of the jazz scene.
The music is led by bassist Timo Hirvonen, joined by trumpeter Kalevi Louhivuori and Jazz-Yrjö award-winning drummer-composer Jussi Lehtonen.
