KJC Super Jam hosted by Holger Marjamaa Trio

Jazz has always been the music of a community. Its language has never been passed from one generation to the next through textbooks, but on stages and in back rooms – by listening, by trying, by measuring yourself alongside more experienced players. From the dance halls of New Orleans to the nightclubs of Harlem and on to present-day Helsinki: jam sessions are where the jazz tribe has always gathered, and where young players have earned their place among the masters.

This autumn, Koko Jazz Club takes hold of that tradition with a new concept. Koko Jazz Club Super Jam calls musicians together at the new club on Kapteeninkatu on Tuesday 13 October and Monday 9 November.
